Toute clarté m'est obscure

Excerpts from the premiere of Isaiah Ceccarelli's "Toute clarté m'est obscure" in Montréal, April 13 2013 at the Église St John the Evangelist. The ensemble, under the direction of drummer and composer Isaiah Ceccarelli, is made up of 16 acclaimed improvising musicians from the Montréal scene. This contemporary music, at once elegant, erudite and monumental, harmoniously integrates improvisation into the composition. The music is accompanied by original texts written by Isaiah and inspired by different poetical and musical forms of the past, including the ballad from the ars subtilior, as well as the planh and the descort of the Troubadour era.
